Production 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan Caught Naked Ahead Of Frankfurt Debut

A sharp eyed Carscoops reader from Vancouver, Canada has caught the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan in the flesh ahead of a rumored debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

The next-generation crossover was out and about in the coastal Canadian city as Volkswagen was shooting marketing material prior to its launch. Immediate impressions are good, with the new Tiguan looking notably upscale and high-end when compared with the current-generation car. It also looks more grown up and mature than much of the competition, like the Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape and Mazda CX-5, for example.

Underpinning the Tiguan will be VW’s modular MQB architecture, and it’s said to share a powertrain lineup with the current Golf. Rumors are the Tiguan will also be offered in three body styles, a standard wheelbase model (pictured), a long wheelbase seven-seater and a sporty coupe.

More info on the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan should be available following its debut late next month.
