Porsche Celebrates Sao Paulo WEC Victory: Video

For a Porsche fanboy, there is no overstating what a huge moment it was when, on November 30th, Porsche won their first FIA World Endurance Challenge race in the 919 Hybrid, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

This is largely because of Porsche’s branding of the 919 Hybrid as “the most advanced race car the marque has ever built,” and the fans’ faith that the team would score at least one overall victory in the LMP1 class this inaugural season. That victory had yet to produce itself, until the season’s Sao Paulo WEC finale race.

Porsche is celebrating the defining moment along with the rest of us, with this video titled “The Ultimate Moment” to commemorate the automaker’s singular victory in the 2014 WEC season. It was a heartwrenching race to be sure, with Porsche contesting closely with Toyota Racing for the top slot, and of course, Mark Webber’s terrifying crash at the last corner, just half-an-hour from the race finish.

Porsche is certain that this Sao Paulo WEC victory – the marque’s first following a 16 year hiatus from endurance racing – will prove to serve as a new beginning, and not as a one-hit-wonder. We would love nothing more.
