Audi To Field Eight RS 5 Racecars In DTM This Year

Audi is prepping itself for the coming year of DTM racing by outlining their goals for the season: secure another title in the highly prestigious German touring car series. The Four Rings stands a fairly strong chance of completing the feat, having won the DTM Championship five times in the past eight years.

Several drivers will field Audi’s RS 5 DTM car this year. Edoardo Mortara will be behind the wheel of a Castrol EDGE Audi RS 5 DTM, while Mattias Ekström will once again be in the Red Bull-sponsored Audi for the 15th season. Mike Rockenfeller will also be in the yellow-green Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM, while the bright orange Hoffmann Group RS 5 will be occupied by Jamie Green.

“We’re proud to have such strong partners supporting Audi Sport,” Dieter Gass, Audi’s Sport’s head of DTM, said in a statement. “That Castrol is broadening its commitment makes us equally happy as the fact that all other major partners continue to be with us.”

Media companies have also joined in on the DTM action this year, with two-time DTM Champion Timo Scheider again driving the Auto Test-sponsored RS 5 DTM and Adrien Tambay in the Playboy Audi. Additionally, Audi Group uses DTM as a place to advertise their services, with Nico Müller in the Audi Financial Services car and Miguel Molina in the Audi Sport car.

In addition to these sponsors, exhaust producer Akrapovič, Swiss watch brand ORIS, wheel company O.Z. and suspension company Eibach have also agreed to support all eight Audi DTM cars this season. Four of the Audi cars will debut at the official DTM track tests at Estoril in Portugal this week, while the other four will debut during the DTM tests at Oschersleben in Germany on April 14.
