Ford Stands Tall In Consumer Reports’ List Of 2011 American Top Picks

Ford has a lot to be happy about right now. In the 2011 Consumer Reports American Top Picks, Ford vehicles pulled off six first-place finishes, which is possibly a record somewhere, but we’re too lazy to figure out honestly.

For the second year in a row, the Ford Fusion has been ranked as the top family sedan alongside its hybrid model as CR’s “green car pick”. New to the list is the Fiesta, which scored highest as the best budget car, while the Escape made the cut as the best small SUV, Flex as best wagon family hauler, and the Mustang beat out the Chevy Camaro as the best sports coupe.

Not every category features foreign cars, but it still stands that Ford as well as General Motors are cleaning up the tarnished image of domestic cars — at least in the eyes of CR. Ford lost to GM only in the small car, family SUV and pickup truck contests, as well as the sports sedan category. Where is Chrysler, you might ask? Hanging out with Eminem — for all we know… which makes them winners as well in some ways.
