Audi A3 Awarded 2014 World Car Of The Year

With the first two days of the 2014 New York Auto Show successfully underway, Audi’s entry-level luxury A3 sedan has snagged top honors in the prestigious World Car of the Year awards.

The Audi A3 beat out solid competitors from all around the globe, including such favorites as the BMW 4-series and the stylish Mazda 3, along with many other worthy challengers.

Judges lauded the German luxury compact for its winning combination of opulent touches, impressive build quality, respectable powertrain lineup, and accessible price tag. Hopefully this will put a little wind at Audi’s back, giving the four-ringed marque an opportunity to gain ground against segment stalwarts such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

There were also other winners in their respective segments. Green Car and Design Champion was awarded to BMW’s revolutionary i3, World Performance Automobile of the Year went to the Porsche 911 GT3 (now no longer fire-prone), and the brand-new Mercedes S-Class was crowned king of the luxury car arena.
