McLaren P1 GTR Set For Pebble Beach Unveiling

Porsche, Ferrari, and McLaren all have released versions of hybrid-powered hypercars. While these cars have raised the bar for road-car technology, McLaren is in the process of creating an even faster, track-focused version of its P1, announcing that the P1 GTR concept will debut at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Friday, August 15 at 6:00 PM EST.

According to AutoblogMcLaren hasn’t gone into specifics other than to state that the P1 GTR will be a more track-focused version of the P1. Based on the illustration, the track car should receive a larger rear wing, bigger rear diffuser, and two massive exhaust tips (instead of the single square tip on the current P1).

Production for the P1 GTR should begin sometime in June 2015, soon after the final P1 street car rolls off the production line. McLaren’s track-focused hypercar will be facing competition from Ferrari, which has also confirmed a track-focused variant of the LaFerrari.
