Porsche Reaches 10 Million Facebook Fans

The mechanics of company communications and marketing has evolved drastically since the advent of the internet. Granted, old staples such as physical brochures, newsletters, printed ads and tv spots still exist in no small measure, but social networking especially represents a significant new frontier to supplement the standard tactics.

It’s safe to say that Porsche can now count itself among a short list of super-successful brands in terms of social marketing, having reached the milestone of 10 million Facebook fans just yesterday.

In fact, Porsche has always been on the cutting edge of automakers’ usage of web-based communications tools, holding the distinction of being the first automotive brand to maintain a YouTube channel. Porsche also maintains presences on Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+, and numerous other platforms.

To celebrate the accumulation of 10 million Facebook fans, Porsche is offering fans the opportunity to win a 10 million decimeter (1,000 km) road trip in a Porsche 918 Spyder. Facebook fans can enter by making their way to Porsche’s contest microsite, logging in with Facebook, and guessing the road trip location shown in a Panoramic photo.
