It can be a pain dealing with car rental agents, or any sales clerk in general depending on how your day is going, which is why services like Silvercar are especially enticing to prospective car renters. Smartphone based ride sharing and car rental services are becoming increasingly more popular, and Audi has now launched a similar service of its own.
Audi’s new ‘Audi on demand’ service uses a downloadable smartphone app to rent out their vehicles out to customers. The app locks and unlocks the car and you’re given a keycard similar to one you’d receive in a hotel in case your phone dies. When you’re finished with your luxurious wheels, you can drop the car off anywhere in the city limits for it to be picked up by the next Audi on demand customer.
The best part about Audi on demand is the vehicles it offers up for rent. You’d expect it to be limited to base-model A4s, however the automaker is offering up some of its performace models, including the mid-engine R8 and RS5 coupe. You can also get your hands on an A7, an A8L, a Q3 and many more, but none of them will come cheap.
