Ford Motor Company U.S. Sales Down 2 Percent To 187,000 Vehicles In November 2014: By The Numbers

U.S. Ford and Lincoln dealers delivered 187,000 vehicles in November 2014, down 2 percent compared to November 2013. The overall sales decline was anticipated, according to Ford, as it “manages its inventory levels as vehicle availability starts growing” for the all-new Ford Mustang, 2015 F-150 and Transit models.

“Our all-new Mustang is moving quickly off dealer lots,” said John Felice, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “Mustang had its best November sales in eight years and is turning in just eight days on dealer lots, on average. Escape saw record sales for November, while Lincoln sales continue gaining momentum, with the brand posting its best sales since 2007.”

November sales highlights (vs. November 2013, except as noted):

  • Ford brand sales dropped 2.6 percent to 178,887 units:
    • Escape sales increased 22 percent to 25,528 units, representing Escape’s best-ever November performance
    • Edge
    • Explorer sales increased 13 percent to 14,949 units, representing Explorer’s best November performance since 2004
    • Mustang surpassed the 8,000-vehicle mark in November, with 8,728 cars sold, up 62.4 percent. The pony car’s largest markets, Texas and California, saw retail sales increases of 46 percent and 76 percent, respectively.
    • Expedition sales grew 14 percent to 3,982 units
    • F-Series sales dropped 9.9 percent to 59,049 units
    • Full-size Transit van sales totaled 4,851 units while E-Series van sales dropped 59.1 percent to 4,151 units
    • Sales of all models fell with the exception of the Taurus Police Interceptor Sedan, Explorer Police Interceptor Utility, Expedition, Mustang and Explorer
  • Lincoln brand sales grew 20.6 percent to 8,113 units, representing the brand’s best November in seven years:
    • Sales of all Lincoln models except for the MKC and Navigator fell
    • Lincoln MKC sales totaled 2,152 units
    • The refreshed Lincoln Navigator was up 88 percent to 1,433 units, representing Navigator’s best November sales since 2007
