Donkervoort Unveils New Audi Powered D8 GTO Bilster Berg Edition

In case you need filling in, Donkervoort is a wild Dutch company who’s essentially taken the basic idea behind the Lotus 7 and brought the old school racer entirely into the 21st century. Their range-topping model is referred as the D8 GTO, but they’ve now one-upped it with the special-edition, Audi-powered Bilster Berg Edition.

The Bilsterg Berg Edition D8 GTO was made to commemorate the automaker’s new German headquarters at the racetrack. The car is powered by a 380 horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-five cylinder engine borrowed from Audi RS3, the same as the standard D8 GTO’s, however several small touches set the Bilsterg Berg Edition apart.

Donkervoort’s Bilster Berg D8 is 22 lbs lighter than the standard model thanks to thin, lightweight carpets and carbon fiber racing seats. It also rides on new Intrax shocks, different anti-roll bars and semi-slick Hankook tires and sports a black-painted carbon fiber front fascia. Rounding out the model exclusive touches is a beefier, track day-ready roll cage, Bilster Berg badges, a dash plaque and a data-logging race display with GPS.

Because it weighs just 1,532 lbs, the Bilster Berg Edition’s Audi engine helps it accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 167 mph. Its price is right on par with its performance, commanding 194,000 euros ($231,125 USD), and just 14 examples will be produced.
