Chris Harris Gives The Porsche Cayman GT4 A Good Thrashing: Video

For all the piles of literature and media we’ve been exposed to regarding the new Porsche Cayman GT4, we have yet to get a third-partier’s perspective on the car. That is, until now; Chris Harris got to drive the new range-topping street-legal race car on the track in Portimão, Portugal, and his video review of the car is pasted below.

What’s Mr. Harris’ verdict? Exceedingly, almost excessively, positive. In so many words: “you want one of these. You really want one of these.” Indeed, the closest he gets to a complaint about the Porsche Cayman GT4 is with regard to the gearbox ratios, which carry over from the Cayman GTS; their a bit too long. But otherwise, he says, the car is an “absolute triumph.”

Perhaps it should come as no surprise that Chris Harris so thoroughly enjoyed his time behind the wheel of the Porsche Cayman GT4; the spec sheet certainly leaves very little room for complaint. But he ends the video by pointing out one other major fault with the car, namely that for the foreseeable future, demand will almost certainly far exceed supply, making the chances of actually acquiring one pretty slim.

That’s not a bad dilemma for Porsche to have, but it’s a great blow to those of us after the best mid-engined Porsche experience that money can buy.
