Sales Of F-Series, Silverado, Sierra And Ram Grow As Tundra And Titan Slip In April 2016

The Ford F-Series remained the best-selling line of full-size pickup trucks in the United States in April 2016. It was followed by GM’s Chevy Silverado in second place, followed by the FCA’s Ram Pickup in third and GM’s GMC Sierra in fourth. All of the top four trucks posted year-over-year sales increases.
Meanwhile, fifth and sixth places went to the Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan, respectively, as sales of both trucks declined year-over-year.
Full-Size Pickup Truck Sales Summary – April 2016 – United States
April 2016 sales of full-size pickup trucks were as follows (in descending order, vs. April 2015):
- Ford F-Series sales increased 12.65 percent to 70,774 units
- Chevrolet Silverado sales increased 8.73 percent to 49,990 units
- Ram Pickup sales increased 8.33 percent to 41,018 units
- GMC Sierra sales increased 13.54 percent to 20,531 units
- Toyota Tundra sales decreased 3.95 percent to 10,259 units
- Nissan Titan sales decreased 2.7 percent to 1,010 units
Overall, the full-size pickup segment saw a 9.7 percent uptick in sales to 193,643 units during the month. Combined April sales of the Silverado and Sierra nets General Motors 70,521 full-size pickup truck deliveries, 235 units behind the Ford F-Series.
Full-Size Pickup Truck Sales Summary – First Four Months Of 2016 – United States
In the first four months of 2016, sales of the six full-size pickup trucks were as follows (in descending order, vs. first four months of 2015):
- Ford F-Series sales increased 6.98 percent to 256,895 units
- Chevrolet Silverado sales increased 3.64 percent to 178,955 units
- Ram Pickup sales increased 10.77 percent to 154,446 units
- GMC Sierra sales increased 13.29 percent to 71,662 units
- Toyota Tundra sales decreased 9.24 percent to 35,794 units
- Nissan Titan sales increased 16.46 percent to 4,281 units
The full-size pickup segment grew 6.59 percent to 702,033 units during the first four months of 2016. Combining sales of the Silverado and Sierra for the first four months of the year gives General Motors 250,617 full-size pickup truck deliveries, 6,278 units fewer than those of the Ford F-Series.
