Koenigsegg Agera One:1 To Cost $2.86 Million

Oh, Sweden; one day you are preoccupied with airbags, seatbelts and wagons, then shortly thereafter you are subtly attempting to break the laws of physics. The latest release from the Scandinavians you may ask? Look no further than the absolutely mental Koenigsegg Agera One:1. As if the original Agera R was not already fast enough with a mind-boggling 1,140 HP, the ruthless Swedes decided to add another 187 HP to one of the world’s fastest vehicles.

With the release of the Agera One:1, Koenigsegg is shamelessly taking aim directly at the current king of the hypercar arena: the long-in-tooth Bugatti Veyron. If for some reason the Bugatti Veyron Supersport with its 8.0 quad-turbo W-16 engine pumping out a scarcely believable 1,200 HP is not enough to satisfy your thirst for More Power! (In the famous words of Jeremy Clarkson) then the engineers from Koenigsegg are here to meet your endless desire for even higher speeds.

Born in the mind of Christian von Koenigsegg (to whom the company owes its namesake) the new Agera One:1 is said to boast 1,321 HP from a fire-breathing 5.0L twin-turbo V8, and produce about enough torque to reverse the rotation of our Solar System. If that doesn’t make your heart stop, to put things in perspective that staggering number is nearly twice than the legendary McLaren F1.

Now, we all know that “numbers cars” do not always make great vehicles but, in the grand scheme of things its hard to argue with an automobile with a power to weight ratio of one horsepower per kilogram of weight. This is such a monumental achievement it was dubbed extreme enough to warrant the One:1 nomenclature. Even though there will be six of them made.

Figures on the top speed of the Koenigsegg have not yet been released, but anywhere from 275-280 mph is a reasonable estimate. Keeping all this power to the ground is an aerodynamics package seemingly pulled straight from Adrian Newey’s drawing board. The massive rear wing alone is said to  be good for nearly 1,300 pounds of downforce capable of topping nearly 2G cornering on the skidpad. Along side the enormous spoiler, there are a multitude of other electronic systems and technologies attempting to contain the nuclear reactor placed right in the middle of this Swedish land missile.

So for any of you who are wondering how much this masterpiece costs, you can’t afford it anyways. For the six extreme Agera One:1 supercars that Koenigsegg intends to build, there is of course an equally impressive price tag to go with it:

Each one will cost €2.1 million, or $2.86 million. That makes the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari look like commoner toys. Look for the full reveal will be at the Geneva International Auto Show March 4th, 2014.
