2015 Ford F-150 Fuel Economy Numbers Released: Are They What You Expected?

2015 Ford F-150 fuel economy figures are out and, as expected, they raise the bar on gasoline engine MPG. With the improved fuel economy, Ford now leads the truck segment in innovation, gasoline MPG and sales volume. Nobody else comes close to those three areas.

Leading the way in the 2015 Ford F-150 fuel economy is the new 2.7L EcoBoost engine. This innovative engine, in a 4×2 truck, achieves an impressive 19/26/22 city/highway/combined fuel economy. This is tops among all gasoline engines in the segment and just 2 MPG shy of the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel.

“We set out to create the future of tough with the new F-150,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development. “We are delivering with the toughest, smartest and most capable F-150 ever – and now the highest EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of any full-size gas-powered pickup in America.”

These 2015 Ford F-150 fuel economy numbers are thanks to many things, though primarily being the extensive use of aluminum. By using the military-grade aluminum, Ford is able to provide better payload and towing capacity with improved fuel economy. The new truck can tow upwards of 1,100 pounds more and hauls 530 pounds more than the previous model.

The new 2015 Ford F-150 is just now rolling off assembly lines and will be at dealers in the coming month.
