Y’Know Those Matthew McConaughey Lincoln MKC Ads? They’re Working

Lincoln has been the whipping boy of Detroit as of late, parodied by SNL, Ellen, and Conan. However, the prestige brand of the Ford Motor Company is reporting having its strongest October sales since 2007, led by a surge in demand for no other than the MKC model featured in the TV spots with Matthew McConaughey.

Of the 8,883 Lincolns sold in October 2014, 2,197 were MKCs. Truth be told, the MKC is new for 2014, so there’s no comparison of sales compared to October 2013. However, MKC sales took a big leap from September 2014 (1,763 units) to October, right after the McConaughey commercials began airing.

The Hollywood Reporter says digital marketing firm Amboee Brand Intelligence claims the SNL spoofs “led to a more than 100 percent increase in Lincoln’s brand’s visibility across social media” after the episode aired on October 25.

Good work, Lincoln.
